Museum professionals, cultural resource managers, archaeologist, historic
preservation specialists, landscape and preservation architects, and
historians are invited to explore and discuss significant new research
about historic resources throughout the Potomac River Valley, dating from
just before European contact through the American Revolution. The Potomac
River Valley History Conference will be held November 18 - 20, 2003, in
Alexandria, Virginia, at The Lyceum, and will include a field trip on
Thursday, November 20th to additional sites in Virginia. The cost for the
conference is $65 and the field trip is $40.

Keynote speakers will provide an overview of the period, emphasizing
socioeconomic changes and recognizing the complex situation created by
American Indian, African, and European cultures coming into contact and
interacting. Professor Ira Berlin, Mr. Orlando Ridout,  Dr. James Rice, Dr.
Stephen Potter, Dr. Camille Wells, and Dr. Heather Huyck are currently
scheduled to present at the conference.
