My recent work on W&M’s Anglo-Saxon Club and the other Clubs’ role in promoting the 1924 Racial Integrity Act mentions this case (and another); the Clubs considered appealing the Sorrels case.   Scroll about 3/4 down at:

I was particularly struck by the involvement of a white supremacist, John Powell, a PBK graduate of UVA and an accomplished musician and composer who managed to embed his racism in his music.  See, for example, his “Banjo Picker”:
