The index to the client files in the L. T. Christian Funeral Home
collection has been added to the Library of Virginia’s Historical Business
Records Website. This database displays names and death dates of the
clientele of the L. T. Christian Funeral Home in Richmond, Virginia, owned
by L. T. Christian (1853-1935) and later his son L. T. Christian, Jr. (1893-
1975). The database lists the full names of each client arranged
alphabetically, the year of the client's death or the year that service was
rendered by the funeral home for the client, and the box and folder of the
client’s file within the collection. Disinterments, reinterments, and
services not related to burial are noted in parentheses under the date of
death/year of service column. Clients who died as unnamed infants are
recorded in brackets along with their parents’ name, if known.
Collection material can be accessed in the manuscripts reading room at the
Library of Virginia. When requesting materials from the collection, please
be specific and note exact box and folder number along with the client’s
full name. Also please advise staff whether a client’s file is contained in
two folders.
