"Eastern Shore Andes." Can I get a nutshell statement of what the
"Eastern Shore Andes" refers to?
Thanks, Janet Hunter
Janet Hunter, et alia:
The reference is to a map of Virginia that was published in Europe in
1671 and on display in the lobby of the Library, in the "Virginia That
Never Was" exhibition. The cartouche depicts some hairy llamas, and the
map shows the Eastern Shore covered with mountains.
I dreamed up the title hoping to stimulate some curiosity, and perhaps
it worked.
