Jeff,
Seems we are again at odds. I am persuaded by the romantic notions
of the Jefferson-Hemings connection, and pleas almost forty years of
studying the Virginian male to come to my conclusions. I'd rather think
that Jefferson was himself involved than to think he pawned off his
favorite to any visiting white male. ... Perhaps I'm too romantic in
thinking that Jefferson cared about his slaves ...
