Many thanks to those of you, Pat, Brent, Doug, who responded to my
question re the 1810 census and I shall follow up on the suggestions.
To refresh, here is my original post:
The (probably just some) 1810 federal census has a column for
quantity of cloth. What was the unit of measure? Would this be the
quantity of cloth made in the household?
Would this be all cloth or just certain fabrics?
I must admit that I first came across this column in the 1810 Granville
Co NC census and should have first queried an N.C. list.
In that census, one family member had 100 "quantity of cloth" and 1 loom
while another had 350 "quantity of cloth."
This or a similar question seems to have been asked on the 1810 Brooke
Co W/VA census.
Thanks again, Judy Gabor
