Ms. Wills,
Let me correct you. I did not say that President Lincoln said that the slaves
be shipped back to their counties was part of the Emancipation Proclamation.

I am sorry that you do not read what I read. It does read that it did not
apply to slaves in border states fighting on the Union side; nor did it affect
slaves in southern areas already under Union control. But I guess that you and I
understand it in different ways. You and I will never agree on this.

Another thing that I don't understand is why don't more people recognize the
brave Free Black Men and the Slaves that served the Confederate Army? They
also need to be recognized along with the ones that served the Union Army!

Last year, here in Richmond, I had the honor and pleasure of meeting H. K.
Edgerton. For those of you that don't know H. K., he is a black man who is a
proud member of the North Carolina SCV. He informed me that he had two ancestor's
that served for the Confederate Army. One was a Free man and the other was a
Slave. If any of you ever get the chance, I recommend that you hear him his
talk about the Confederacy. You will not be disappointed!
