Note: The only Mount Airy I know of that would 30 or 40 miles of Danville,
VA is actually about 10 miles south of the VA/NC border in Surry Co NC. A
neat little town - quite ancient but revived when Andy Griffith revived it
as Mayberry. Now Mount Airy boasts Mayberry Motel, with Andy's Sherriff's
car parked out front (really!); Aunt Bea's restaurant; Floyd's Barbershop,
and all of the other familiar Mayberry sites.
Nearby, yoill find Mount Pilot - really Pilot Mountain, both town and
mountain.
A great place to visit - a great place to be born. Hope you'll visit.
