Basil,
At least in Virginia, there is not "Elementary History Teacher" category.
There are Elementary teachers who may or may not be good at teaching history
or social studies, and their are social studies teachers at the middle and
secondary levels, with sometimes high school teachers at large schools who
can specialize in history.
In any event, it would probably be most inappropriate to bring up Jefferson
and Hemings at the elementary level. Even John Paul Jones is treated as a
"hero" at the elementary level, especially when he was on the SOLs for first
grade!
If you think that hairstyles should be an indication of one's worth to their
profession, please take a look at a picture of Albert Einstein.
