Anne: I suppose it depends on what makes one boring -- Henry was from
Scotch-Irish Presbyterian stock: he was pious and virtuous, mild in
temrper and evoted to ideas: both in his own study and in conversation.
You can get a nice contemporary view of Henry (and his reputation) from
Edmund Randolph's HISTORY OF VIRGINIA (a modern edition, edited by
Arthur Shaffer was published by the VHS). His contemporaries saw
considerable leadership qualities in him. Other older views are in
Wirt's biography of Henry and there is a sketch of him in Grigsby's
VIRGINIA CONVENTION OF 1776.
