I am editing a 1860-1899 diary.  There are frequent entries re: paying .10
for pine.
I am curious as to why the lady of the house bought pine?   Was pine
purchased for the aroma to "freshen" rooms/clothes or was there a use for
the pine pitch?
Any thoughts?
