Hello,
While looking for ancestors, ran into a problem. From the online book,
The Chronicles of The Pamunkey Hendrick Family of The Colonial South, it
lists a Joseph Hendrick.
2Jun1777 - Indenture: Joseph Hendrick, orphan of Daniel Hendrick, to be
bound to William Overton. (Charlotte County, VA, Court Orders 4:95)
If this is 'my Daniel, he would be about 16 years of age in 1777 and in the
Charlotte or Amelia Co Militia. My Daniel survived the war. At what age were
children usually indentured ? If this is the child of my Daniel, he couldn't
be more than 1 or 2 years old. Was indenture a form of adoption ?
William Hendricks
