If you have not already seen this book it might be useful, although the man
you mentioned is not listed. A Moses Whiteside of Lexington is listed.

Subject: Watchmakers in Fincastle or Botetourt
I am researching watchmakers in Fincastle, ca 1835 or so, in
conjunction with
an article I am writing for The Fincastle Herald.
The article was assigned after a watch from Fincastle with the name
of
watchmaker Samuel C. Whitside appeared on Ebay and it was brought to
the
editor's attention.
Any information on watchmakers in that time period and in this
locality would
be greatly appreciated.
